VISA Debit Card

In December, 2007 VISA Debit Cards replaced all existing ATM/POS cards.  They are accepted free of service fees at any Bank of the West ATM and our Chabot College Bookstore ATM.  They are also honored worldwide where VISA debit products are accepted including restaurants, medical facilities, Internet and mail/telephone order merchants and billers such as utilities, insurance companies and cable providers.  This card provides 24 hour cash access through ATM locations around the globe.


Minimize Identity Theft

Chabot FCU is excited to announce AlertMe, a new credit-monitoring service designed to help members fight identity theft which is a growing problem that affects millions of Americans.  AlertMe gives early warning of activity on your credit report.  Since credit report activity can be a sign of possible identity theft, early detection can help you catch problems quickly to minimize losses. 

AlertMe monitors your Experian credit file daily.  New accounts, credit cards over the credit limit and address changes are just a few of the items AlertMe monitors.  If an activity occurs, AlertMe will send you an email alerting you to the activity.  You can log into the AlertMe website to read details about the activity and determine if it is suspicious.  AlertMe will also send an email to remind you to order your annual free credit reports.

Free Credit Report

As an outgrowth of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003, residents of the Western states including Alaska and Hawaii can obtain free copies of their credit report every year from Equifax, Experian and Trans-Union.  You can go to www.annualcreditreport.com to request from all three simultaneously.  Or you can call toll-free 1-877-322-8228 to get your credit report from all three agencies.  Or you can mail your request to Annual Credit Report Request Service, P. O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.  Those residing in the Midwest can begin ordering their free annual credit report(s) March 1st, those in the South June 1st, and all others September 1st, 2005.
